My beginnings are humble and less fortunate.  I was born and raised in Georgia at poverty level.  I understood that in order to be somebody or accomplish anything, I needed to accept responsibility for myself.  I soon discovered as I moved through early stages of life that information and knowledge was key to accomplishing my dreams.  My discoveries and success are based on learning five key life lessons.  You can watch a presentation of these five lessons here: http://www.marketinggt.com/prods/IMOGJS

LESSON 1 – Learn a valuable skill that others want and need and get paid for delivering that skill – That is the essence of making money.  It’s all about the value trade.  The beauty is that you can acquire any skill that you want by learning the right information.  The internet has increased that speed.

LESSON 2 – Your income is in direct proportion to the things you know – I also figured out that the more things I knew, the more I got paid.  Find multiple skills that people want and get paid deliver it to them.  This has a compounding effect.  By learning multiple skills like affiliate marketing, list building, social media, video, audio, etc, and combining all of the skills, the sum is greater than the individual parts.

LESSON 3 – You are responsible for the control your own destiny – Once you understand that you can control your financial status by the skills that you learn; you realize your destiny is no longer in the hands of anyone else.  This is complete power.  That’s the true meaning of “knowledge is power.”

LESSON 4 – The rate of your success is in direct proportion to the rate of your learning – After the amazing realization that I can control my own success through learning; I figured out that every time I learned something new, I made more money and had more success.  With this effect, I established a daily allotment for personal development and learning as well as scheduling ongoing conference and classroom training.  The more money I spent on learning and development, the more money I made.

LESSON 5 – Your most valuable assets are your memories and experiences, not your things – After acquiring nice cars, houses, and things, I learned that they didn’t bring the happiness I desired.  The true definition of success cannot be defined by what you have, but what you are.  I gave away all of my things.  I got rid of my big house, nice cars and established monthly trips around the world with my wife and family to build memories.  I realized that the Christmas skiing trip was more valuable to my wife and children than any material gift I gave no matter how expensive.  It made me realize how “priceless” my time actually is to myself and those that I love.  I now define success by my pictures and memories.  Oh how sweet they are!
